  1. The website about Arthur Conan Doyle Society believes that the information on the website about the Literary Estate is incorrect. They do not want their link to be on that website because they do not support the Literary Estate’s information. Arthur Conan Doyle Society asked the Literary Estate to remove their link from the website. Yet, the link is still on the Literary Estate’s site.

  2. The Arthur Conan Doyle Society doesn’t agree with the Arthur Conan Doyle Literary Estate. Some reasons being that the a.c.d.s. states that Doyle’s siblings were a number of 9 while the a.c.d.l.e says he had six. The disagreements are mainly caused by the difference in information. Thus why the a.c.d.s. does not want to be affiliated with the a.c.d.l.e. The a.c.d.s. simply does not want to confuse the readers that are wanting to learn about Doyle for the first time thus why they do not want to be linked to the a.c.d.l.e. after seeing differences in the information.

  3. The first sight states that Arthur Conan Doyle had one brother and six sisters. The second sight exclaims that he in fact had nine siblings. So how many siblings did he really have? Another thing is the first sight made Arthur’s parents seem greedy and money bound while the second sight doesn’t.

Oh and Mrs.Caskey on Thursdays can we have SSW/SSR and choose whether we want to continue/revise any writing or if we want to read?

  4. The Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Society doesn’t want to be associated with the first website because they don’t believe that anything on the website is true. The society doesn’t want to be associated with them also because they want to know the truth about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and not some fake information.

For example, the first website says that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had 5 sisters and 1 brother, whereas the 2nd website says that he had 10 siblings. The 2nd website also states that his father influenced him whereas the first website says it was his mother. It goes on to disagree with most everything that had to do with Sir Arthur’s life.

  5. My opinion is that the websites disagree with each other because of contrasting information on ACD’s life, and thus the websites do not relate to each other. For example, the religion in one website states that he was catholic, but rejected Christianity, and another says that he went to the Jesuit School. Thus, the information is contradicting, and the two websites show no connection to the other.

  6. The Arthur Conan Doyle Society refuses to be associated with the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Literary Estate due to the fact that they disagree with most of the other website’s information, but the second website still has a link to get to the first. Even with their difference of being a society and an informational website, they still had differences in opinion about topics such as whether or not Arthur’s schooling was paid for or not(the A.C.D.Society believed his mother struggled to keep him in school whereas the S.A.C.D.Literary Estate believed that his wealthy family paid for it all). The issue at stake is that many people will not know which website is to be better trusted due to their conflicting opinions and information.

    • The Society refuses to be connected with the Liberty Estate because they do not agree on the information made about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Also, they do not endorse the many claims made on the Liberty Estate website. For example, the society believes that Arthur was an Agnostic(disbeliever in gods), however, the Liberty Estate believes that Arthur believes in Spiritualism(that spirits of the dead could communicate to one that is living). Religion is one of the multiple things that people argue about day in and day out. It is common to find websites argue about religion.
The issues at stake here is that perhaps the Society wants to allows the use of the characters in the books that Arthur made. The Liberty Estate stated that the use of characters in the books can not be copied unless you have a license from the Liberty Estate. So, the Society doesn’t want Liberty Estate to be the holder of copyrights for Arthur’s books.

  7. -the first site refers Holmes as immortal, while the second one doesn’t.
-first site is leaving out details that the second is catching, like what inspired Doyle to make each story(his mom)
-second cite doesn’t talk about mom or give her credit in inspiring Doyle to write
-doesn’t say Holmes or Watson is based of Doyle’s doctor in second, while first does.
-on second cite, it says his dad’s alcoholism effects him alot, but the first cite disagrees.

  8. The Literary Estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle does not agree with the Society of Doyle. It doesn’t want to endorse the Estate’s claims because it claims their website to be false. It stated that it did not want any part of the Estate and that if you have came to the Society from the Estate, to please note that. This is implying that both websites are not trusted sources with each other, and that the Estate contains a different opinion on Arthur Doyle than the Society.
For example, the Society explains how Arthur Conan Doyle was a Catholic, but rejected Christianism and became an agnostic. The Literary Estate does not state Arthur’s a Catholic, or any religion, merely mentioning he was in a Jesuit School. This could show that the Society did not want to be acknowledged in the Estate, because it might imply that the Estate is not showing the full story, and referring to the society would make sense that the Society is showing the same misinformation.

  9. The Arthur Conan Doyle Society does not agree with the literal facts (such as the number of siblings, personality of parents and other things that affected Doyle’s life) made in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Literary Estate, therefore The A. C. D. Society wishes not to be affiliated (i.e. hyperlinked) with The Sir A. C. D. Literary Estate because of different information. The A. C. D. Society claims its purpose is to bring together the public to teach Doyle’s life and works to them. It has a different view on Doyle’s intentions, and that is a major source of his actions. This causes a huge divide on whom ever says Doyle had a different lifestyle and different events in his life.

  10. -the first site refers Holmes as immortal, while the second one doesn’t.
-the first site is leaving out details that the second is catching, like what inspired Doyle to make each story
-second cite doesn’t talk about mom or give her credit in inspiring Doyle to write
-doesn’t say Holmes or Watson is based of Doyle’s doctor in second, while first does.

  11. The owner of the second website believes that his website has nothing to do with the first, yet the owner of the first website frequently posts links to the second. The home page of the first website has a link to the second website, and the second website does not approve of this. The first website says that Doyle had seven siblings whereas the second says he had ten. The personal life of this author is debated between these two websites. Researchers looking for information about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle will become conflicted as they receive two different views on the same person.
